What is Thai Foot Massage?
Traditional Thai foot massage is a blend of Chinese Reflexology, Thai Acupressure Points, and Sen Line work. It is a relaxing yet stimulating treatment of the feet and lower legs. You will leave the session feeling balanced and revitalized.
What are Sen Lines?
Sen lines are Thai energy lines that run through the entire body, similar to the meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine. When these lines become blocked it is believed to be the cause of discomfort or illness and Thai Foot Massage stimulates and opens these channels.
How is it different from Chinese Reflexology?
Thai Foot Massage is similar to reflexology in that both modalities treat points on the feet that correspond to organs and structures of the body.
They differ in a few ways though:
Reflexology is more specific, whereas Thai is more generalized working ALL reflexes of the foot
Reflexology incorporates acupressure points of the hands, ears, and face
Reflexology is used to treat specific imbalances, whereas Thai doesn’t diagnose or treat illness but rather activates the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
What are the Benefits of Thai Foot Massage?
Did you know there are 7,200 nerve endings on the bottom of each foot?
Thai Foot Massage has numerous benefits:
Promotes restful sleep
Reduces stress & anxiety
Reduces fascial restrictions, tension, and fatigue
Invokes deep parasympathetic relaxation
Benefits the entire body only working the feet and lower legs
What can I expect from a session?
Thai Foot Massage can be added to a traditional massage session or can be a standalone treatment.
As an add-on you will experience a 15 minute taste of Thai Foot Massage and leave feeling grounded and relaxed.
As its own treatment you will be fully dressed (please wear something that can be easily raised above the knee) on the massage table. Treatment begins with an exfoliating foot scrub. Then the therapist uses their hands and special acupressure tools to manipulate the foot and lower leg. You will leave in a state of deep relaxation.
